FROM 17TH CENTURY DERELICT FARMHOUSE TO FAMILY HOME

About 18 months ago this building was a derelict 17th century B-listed cottage in the Angus countryside. Today it is a completed and very comfortable family home.

The house itself takes on a U-shaped courtyard plan with all rooms looking out onto a central garden space with an additional smaller entrance courtyard. While the habitable rooms face north they all receive sunlight from a south-facing roof-light. Most of the internal garden elevations are glazed. The south wall of the property is the boundary with the existing house’s reduced back garden and is rendered to match the existing house as will the east elevation.

Thanks to the whole design team and a wonderful client.
